The commission representative noted the group’s prior grant work and fundraising history, saying, “Over the years, we’ve successfully written 13 grants, and the latest one was $15,000 for planting trees in town,” and described a past project in which a $20,000 town contribution drew $40,000 from state partners to preserve the town park. Select board members confirmed the select board would oversee the fund and stressed that it is not for daily operating expenses but for opportunities that require town matching or demonstration of local support. The $10,000 request will go to voters by Australian ballot as part of the warned items.
