He also asked the board for permission to possibly be absent from LCHS graduation on May 16 to attend his daughter’s college softball Region 6 State tournament. Board members told Dr. Wyrick he should attend family events and to "enjoy the weekend," according to the minutes.
Dr. Wyrick also told the board he had addressed the Labette County Commissioners at their last meeting, urging them to work together and be respectful to one another; he used the incident as an example of the respectful tone he praised among USD 506 board members. No formal action followed the superintendent’s remarks.
