USD 506 principals report enrollment increases and introduce new teachers across district

Principals across Labette County USD 506 reported enrollment gains and introduced several new teachers during the board meeting on Aug. 9.
Mound Valley Principal Melissa Green said enrollment had increased to 151 students and announced new staff including Blake Lacey (PE), Ryan Elliott (Band/Music) and Melinda Taylor (Special Education instructor). Altamont Principal Tiffany Flatt reported enrollment at 233 and named new kindergarten teacher Jaya Johnson and praised new textbooks. Bartlett Principal Spence Allison reported 125 students (17 new) and new hires including Madison Evans (3rd grade) and Nancy Geren (Math). Edna Principal Tim Traxson reported 182 students with 16 new pupils and confirmed Ryan Elliott for Band/Music. LCHS Principal Stacy Smith reported 526 students currently enrolled and listed new LCHS hires including Terri Ruttgen, Angela Wininger, Irma Pokorny and others.
Superintendent John Wyrick told the board that principals and secretaries have returned to work and that the HVAC project at LCHS should be complete the following week. Several principals thanked custodial and maintenance staff for summer work that prepared buildings for enrollment.
