Council approves amendment to animal shelter design agreement with CES
Summary
Council approved an amendment to the CES design agreement to finalize MEP and structural specifications for the proposed animal shelter and to continue design development ahead of construction bidding.
A representative from CES came forward to update the council on the animal shelter project and explained the amendment before council would add the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) and structural design scope so staff can refine plans and specifications.
CES said early uncertainty about structure type has been narrowed and that amending the agreement will allow the firm to nail down structural and HVAC/ventilation details. Council moved and seconded to approve the amendment to the design agreement and approved it by voice vote.
Council’s approval advances design work but does not by itself authorize construction contracts or large capital expenditures; further steps and bidding will follow the final design and specifications.
