The Kimberly City Council approved its consent calendar at the Jan. 27 meeting, voting unanimously to authorize payments totaling $36,422.71. The consent package included approval of the Jan. 13, 2026 minutes and accounts payable covering Jan. 14–27, 2026: General Fund $8,240.98; Water Fund $24,952.14; Sewer Fund $2,345.84; Library $883.75.
Council Member Holmgren requested a change to how the minutes record residents’ names, saying the minutes are intended to summarize and that naming a resident when the matter was not a public comment may be unnecessary. "Just to clarify, when the discussion was about the bus pull out the resident was named," she said, adding her understanding that minutes should summarize rather than quote or identify residents. Legal counsel Tim Stover responded that he did not have an immediate answer but would research the issue and provide guidance before the next meeting, noting that recordings and minutes are part of the public record: "Taking it out isn’t going to change that. If anyone wants to make a Public Records Request, they would still be getting that information from the meeting itself."
Council President Richman moved to approve the consent calendar "as presented" and Council Member Snarr seconded. The roll call vote was Richman — Yes; Ahlm — Yes; Holmgren — Yes; Snarr — Yes. The motion carried. Tim Stover said he would look into whether the council should change how names are recorded in minutes and report back at a future meeting.
The council did not take further action on minute formatting at the meeting; the item will return if legal counsel advises a change or further council direction is requested.
