County approves IMS contract to provide detention-center healthcare

Yadkin County approved a new contract with IMS Correctional Healthcare on April 20 to provide medical services for inmates at the county detention center after the current provider's agreement ends May 1, 2026. The Sheriff's Office prepared the contract and the board approved it in a single motion.
County Manager Michael Silverman explained the transition is needed because the existing provider's contract will cease on May 1. Commissioner Tim Parks moved to approve the IMS contract and Commissioner Ricky Oliver seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
