Yadkin County adopts revised Voluntary Agricultural District ordinance

Yadkin County commissioners adopted revisions to the Voluntary Agricultural District Ordinance on April 20 to reflect changes in North Carolina General Statutes affecting agricultural districts. Planning & Zoning staff reported the county currently has 23,937.9 acres enrolled in the Rural and Voluntary Agricultural District and is working to add roughly 680 additional acres.
Planning & Zoning Senior staff explained the update incorporates statutory changes made since the 2024 ordinance revision and that the revisions are administrative and regulatory in nature. No public speakers addressed the hearing and the board adopted the ordinance by unanimous vote.
