Human Services Director Jessica Wall presented the Child Fatality Prevention Team's 2025 annual report, telling the board the team met four times and reviewed seven child-fatality cases. "The Team no longer reviews all child deaths; they only review the deaths that the new law requires them to review," Wall said, noting that three of the cases were reviewed under the state'mandated process and two required escalated reviews.
Wall described strong interagency collaboration, use of case reviews to identify system gaps, and the team's use of state funds to purchase child safety seats distributed by Human Services and community partners. The report also included the team's participation in the Safe Kids Coalition and its required national reporting to the National Center for Fatality Review & Prevention under the 2024 statute changes.
