Council approves early-payroll resolution, waives GAAP-prescribed statements and names official newspapers

The La Cygne City Council approved Resolution No. 486 authorizing the payment of payroll checks and routine monthly bills prior to appearance on the next voucher list to capture discounts or if they become due before the next meeting. Council Member Thomas Capp moved the resolution; Council Member Jerome Mitzner seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
The council also approved Resolution No. 487 to waive GAAP-prescribed financial statements and general fixed assets accounting for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2026. The resolution was approved "in accordance with the provision of K.S.A. 75-1120a," with Capp moving and Mitzner seconding; the vote passed 4-0. Additionally, the council designated Linn County Newspaper and Linn County Journal as the official city newspapers.
