Megan O'Toole, the town’s emergency management director, updated the Select Board on local preparedness work. She said radios have been distributed to responders and she is seeking a zone coordinator for Abel Mountain; she also said regional contacts are circulating training and exercise opportunities.
O'Toole asked the board to allow periodic posting of state-issued alerts and resources (VT Alert and other state links) on the town website banner so residents can follow official information for heat, smoke and flood warnings. "VT Alert is something that people can sign up for very easily," she said, and she offered to coordinate with staff to post banners when state-generated notices are particularly significant.
Board members asked who would operate and monitor postings; O'Toole said she would coordinate with staff and indicated a workflow to place banners unless another posting already took precedence. The board encouraged outreach to residents to sign up for the statewide alert system and for staff to provide clear banner guidance.
