La Grande High School students presented Oregon Teacher Pathway projects to the board focused on student anxiety, trauma, and the impact of physical health and nutrition on students experiencing poverty. Presenters said extended seat time and lack of structure can exacerbate issues and suggested teachers adopt shorter seat times and more structured activities.
Student representative Paige Allen also gave a student report highlighting end-of-year activities, including baccalaureate, senior awards and graduation; she noted the LHS Choir earned the state championship this year. The presentation connected classroom design and student supports to district efforts around mental health and teacher preparation programs.
