New Britain Borough Council voted July 27 to designate Central Bucks EMS as the borough's primary provider for both basic and advanced life support for 9‑1‑1 calls. Staff and council said Central Bucks already serves roughly half the borough, and the municipal steering committee recommended a single primary provider to simplify funding and operations.
Chuck Pressler, identified as chief of Central Bucks EMS, told council the service would staff a substation and operate 24 hours a day; he described average response times of about 6–8 minutes and said Central Bucks would add staff as the service area expands. Some residents and representatives raised concerns about whether both vendors had been given equal public opportunity to present; Peter Nelson, borough representative to Chalfont, asked that both squads present their response‑time and staffing data publicly. The council weighed a short delay to solicit additional presentations against timing constraints (the county transition requires up to 90 days) and ultimately approved the resolution by voice vote with the motion carrying.
