At the Aug. 9 work session the board presented an operating agreement labeled the 'LAST' method to standardize how community concerns are handled. The district summarized the approach as: "Listen to the person; Acknowledge their complaint or concern; Send them to the correct person (lowest level in the organization where the issue can be resolved); Thank them for their interest in the District."
The board clarified the chain of command for referrals: start with the teacher or coach, escalate to the building principal, then the superintendent, and only refer to the board when prior steps have been exhausted. Members said the method is intended to keep issues at the lowest appropriate level and improve responsiveness.
Board members completed exercises to strengthen collaborative communication and flagged the operating agreement as a tool for consistent public engagement during the 2025–2026 year.
