Mendoza also tied the day's conversation to the Strategic Plan 2025–2027 and a 'Portrait of a Graduate' concept intended to describe desired traits for students and staff. The meeting lasted until 12:26 p.m., and no formal votes were taken during the workshop.
"Love, Care, Serve" and the year theme were presented as working guides for engagement strategies such as advisory committees, student feedback, and stronger communication with families and partners. Board members completed team-building exercises and discussed practical steps to implement the themes in district work.
The board identified follow-up items for future meetings, including updates to the Strategic Plan and a study of a potential four-day school week. Announced meeting dates include Aug. 13 and Aug. 27 at the district office.
