Urban Renewal archway project delayed by transformer and easement questions, staff says

City staff reported potential delays in the Urban Renewal archway project tied to property ownership and electrical service questions.
City Manager Geoff Wullschlager said the proposed archway location includes portions of ODOT-owned property near the transit center and that an electrical switch box previously thought to be a transformer "is not suitable for providing power to the archway for illumination." He said the Agency's contract engineer is investigating whether easements exist for a transformer on the south side of Fourth Street; if none exist, staff will need to request easements or fund a new transformer to provide reliable power for illumination.
Wullschlager said staff is preparing an RFP for project design and that resolving the electrical component is the final outstanding issue before the project can proceed.
