At the Oct. 9 meeting the board publicly thanked several staff and community members for recent contributions. Recognitions included the parent club that funded a book vending machine at Columbia Vista Intermediate (CVI); Amanda Smith, identified in the minutes as “Professor Safety,” for delivering STARBASE STEAM instruction at CVI; and Lizzy Burres for taking pictures and keeping the community updated on events.
The board also thanked the Umatilla Fire Department for Fire Prevention Week classroom presentations, Bianca Ortiz for helping set up middle school volleyball games, and Mrs. Dirksen and Mrs. Day's leadership class for their Homecoming work. These acknowledgments were presented during the staff recognition portion of the agenda; no motions or votes were required.
