Contractor schedule, CDBG and TAP funds highlighted for Main Canyon Road work

Troy (S1), the presenter for the Main Canyon Road project update, told the Wallsburg Town Council on April 9 that the project is nearing completion and staff will meet the contractor April 22 to finalize grinding and paving schedules.
"Main Canyon is coming to a close," Troy said, and he added the environmental clearance for a related pipeline/ditch project is expected in "the next couple weeks," after which plans will be prepared and bid this summer. He said the contractor will coordinate on-site scheduling so work can be timed efficiently.
Troy also flagged federal transport funding administered by the Utah Department of Transportation, saying his estimates from published budgets show the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) could have "a little over $4,000,000" available for projects. He urged the town to prepare applications for trails and related programs that open in the fall, noting the town's recent CDBG contract and a first draft of a stormwater master plan are in hand and will be brought to a future council meeting for review.
The council discussed short-term patching to extend the road until larger federal-funded work is scheduled in 2028 or 2029, depending on programming; Troy recommended a stronger temporary patch given the anticipated time to full reconstruction. Council asked staff to follow up with scheduling and bring the stormwater master-plan draft to the next meeting.
