EMS director seeks ventilator upgrade and says staffing change is planned

Brian Mongeau, Greenwood County EMS Director, told the commission the ambulance currently has a fully functioning but older-model ventilator and that he is interested in upgrading the equipment. "The last time he priced a new ventilator it was approximately $22,000," Mongeau said during the Feb. 9 meeting.
Mongeau also said he is reviewing ambulance medication inventories with current staff to ensure they carry appropriate drugs and that he is accepting applications for a full-time employee; he added the current full-time position will shift to part-time once staffing changes are complete. No funding request or formal motion to purchase equipment was made at the meeting.
