At the Feb. 24 meeting, during the public-comment period, Kit Kelley asked the board for information about the county’s Farmland Preservation Program — specifically who chairs the board, what the program’s future plans are, and how much money is budgeted for it.
Commissioner Lynn replied that Tyler Dombroski, who had chaired the committee since its reactivation, had recently resigned and a new chair had not yet been selected. He said the program had been dormant for years before reactivation; the county historically set aside $5,000 annually and several years ago increased that amount to $7,500. Lynn added the state also provides funding and noted two farms have been preserved under the program in recent years.
