Construction update: Johnson and Eden now live; remaining work, invoices expected from CCI

Lamoille FiberNet’s executive director reported Sept. 25 that network activations are underway and that two communities are now receiving service.
Lisa Birmingham said Johnson is “lit and released” and that Eden “now has broadband.” She told the board the final address list will be submitted to the Vermont Community Broadband Board (VCBB) as a grant condition and that the organization expects an invoice from CCI next week for 30% of the remaining wire centers. She also said there appear to be fewer than 10 addresses that will not be completed by the end of September.
The executive director’s report noted installations have begun in parts of Morristown, Elmore, Johnson, Hyde Park and Stowe. A scheduling collision with VTRANS and CCI on Route 15 and Route 109 caused delays in segments of Cambridge, Waterville and Belvidere; with help from the Lamoille County Planning Commission (LCPC) schedules were realigned and work was expected to resume.
P2 has been approved and staff will work with legal counsel and VCBB to draft contract and grant amendments for an additional $188,000 in state funds, the ED said.
