At the department-report portion of the meeting, staff provided a series of operational updates. A public-works speaker reported he had programmed the new sprinkler system but needed to locate and activate the backflow/valve so the system can run; he planned to contact the technician Sam for assistance. The same speaker said he had sent cemetery water bid specifications to SIPCO and was awaiting their response to prepare an official bid package.
Councilors also reviewed roadwork: finishing grading, chip sealing and a problematic driveway/culvert near a recent development where asphalt ends abruptly. Staff agreed to photograph the site, add a small gravel base or similar surface to prevent early failure, and include it in punch-list items. Cemetery maintenance items included a recent interment of cremains, a scheduled celebration-of-life at the park, and a request that Buffos spray weeds at the cemetery and park; staff will also confirm porta-potty arrangements for Memorial Day events.
Next steps: staff to coordinate with technicians on the sprinkler connection, post the cemetery water bid via SIPCO, gather road-repair photos and quotes, and report back at the next meeting.
