Residents ask Meagher County to support rescission of 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule

Townsend and Myrstol told commissioners they planned to draft a letter and asked the board's endorsement and signature. The minutes record that written comments were being accepted by USDA beginning Aug. 29, 2025, and that comments must be received by Sept. 19, 2025. The commissioners did not record a formal vote on whether to sign the proposed letter during the meeting.
Townsend and Myrstol were recorded as the speakers who raised the request; commissioners did not immediately commit to signing and indicated they would consider the request in follow‑up.
