Commission greenlights lease and bids for Tuskegee Multicultural Center; farmers market site suggested

The Commission voted to accept a lease and to solicit bids for renovation and exhibit fabrication at the Tuskegee Human and Civil Rights Multicultural Center. Attorney review of the lease was completed and commissioners authorized the chairman to execute the lease and to let renovation bids to be received at the next regular meeting.
Representative Johnny Ford and civil-rights representatives appeared in support of the facility and asked the county to expedite renovations. On related downtown revitalization, the Commission received a presentation from Main Street Project representatives and voted to support further study of locating a farmers market on county-owned property at the corner of Main and Lee streets; staff were asked to evaluate property acquisition and funding options.
Multiple contractors later submitted bids for the CDC interior renovation and the Commission authorized award upon architect scrutiny.
