Steele County commissioners voted to approve the county's 2025 budget after a short review by finance staff and discussion of mill rates.
Commissioner (S1) moved to approve the budget and the motion carried after a voice vote called by the Chair (S5). Jana (S3) described a key line item, saying, “28.29,” when asked about the mill rate calculation, and told commissioners she had added a $31,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield revenue entry so it would offset on the top side of the ledger. During the discussion another figure, 79.45, was cited as the total mills in the broader calculation.
The board did not amend the budget at the meeting and approved it as presented. The Chair also announced the November meeting would be moved to Nov. 12 because the regular date would fall on Election Day.
