Commission approves $214,037.82 KDOT federal fund exchange; Road & Bridge reports culvert and microseal projects

The Harvey County Commission approved exchanging federal funds as part of the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) 2026 Federal Fund Exchange. The paperwork shows $237,819.80 in federal funds available, an exchange rate of $0.90 state/$1.00 federal, and $214,037.82 in state funds to be received for FFY 2026 (Oct. 1, 2025'Sept. 30, 2026). The minutes note the 90% exchange rate produced $75,191.81 more than last year. The motion to exchange $214,037.82 was approved and the county administrator was authorized to sign the agreement.
Road & Bridge Director Jim Meier also reported project updates: the bridge on SE 60th was completed and opened; culvert P-7.3 had its weathered timber deck and stringers replaced with repurposed steel beams and corrugated metal decking; and a contractor (Vance Brothers) applied microseal to N. Halstead Road as part of a multi-mile preservation effort expected to extend pavement life about six to seven years.
