Commissioners ask staff for more details on RHIDs and data-center concerns

During commissioner comments Becky Reimer said she and Commissioner Don Schroeder had attended a presentation on reinvestment housing incentive districts (RHIDs) and tax increment financing and asked for more detailed information about the county's existing RHID and TIF districts, including start dates, terms, valuations and distributions. County Clerk Rick Piepho agreed to prepare a report with the requested criteria.
Public comment and department staff raised questions about data centers. Julie Haase said "data centers use a lot of water" according to her research, and Planning Director Karen Rothe summarized information from presentations she attended. Commissioners and staff discussed the need for a tour and additional facts to dispel rumor and inform potential policy steps.
