County considers shared nursing, reactivation of Steele County Health Board amid staffing instability

State Attorney and HR Director Charlie Stock told commissioners July 11 that the county has had staffing instability in public health; one temporary nurse will be available through July 26 to do home visits on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Stock said he had contacted Traill County and that Brenda Stallman provided contacts and ideas for hiring and for reactivating the Steele County Health Board.
Stock proposed exploring joining a public-health district to share a nurse and administrative support across counties. He emphasized the statutory requirement that a county-level nurse be present and said he and Stallman would meet to develop hiring and budget options prior to the next budget discussions on July 25.
