Roads update: graveling nearly complete; county will reconsider crack sealing and road-share schedule with Grand Forks

Roads superintendent Reed Oien updated the commission that the county’s graveling program has one road remaining and is expected to be finished by week’s end. Oien told commissioners the Road Department has been busy and suggested planning for additional summer help next year. He also raised concern about ensuring crack sealing on the highway is done properly.
Oien said the current year-to-year flip-flop in the road-share arrangement with Grand Forks County causes inefficiencies — after Grand Forks finishes work in summer the county spends significant time reshaping the road. He recommended discussing an arrangement where each county takes a fixed season to reduce rework; he will follow up with Grand Forks County.
