Commission approves $10,000 yearly eHawk contract for juvenile probation, authorizes search and design for detention facility

Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Anna Leigh Cline requested the funding to track and communicate with juveniles; Chairman Stanley D. Batemon recommended approval and Commissioner Bob Mize moved the measure.
The body also scheduled consideration of a request for a full‑time secretary for juvenile probation at the Jan. 22, 2026 work session. Separately, commissioners authorized Commissioner Jeff Brown to search for a potential juvenile detention facility site and authorized Commissioner Joey Stevens to engage an architect to design a juvenile detention facility; both authorizations passed unanimously.
Why it matters: county leaders said the software will support case tracking and communication for juveniles under supervision, and the site search and design authorizations begin a formal planning process for local detention capacity. The commission attached the eHawk contract to the minutes as Attachment #1 once reviewed by the county attorney.
Next steps: the staffing request will be discussed at the Jan. 22 work session; searches and design work for a detention facility were authorized immediately so that the county may develop options for future consideration.
