County hires Crowe LLP for FY2026 audit, approves $464,244.07 in budget adjustments and new clerk fees

The commissioners approved several finance and administrative items at the Dec. 22 meeting. Commissioner T. J. Foley moved, seconded by Commissioner Paul Bing, to contract with Crowe LLP to conduct the FY 2026 annual financial audit; the motion carried. Separately, Commissioner Kyle Workman moved, seconded by Commissioner T. J. Foley, to approve budget adjustments totaling $464,244.07; that motion also carried and the adjustments were authorized.
The court additionally approved County Clerk fees tied to Texas Property Code sections 53.171–53.174—specifically, a $100 certified mail return receipt service and an $8 notice issuance fee—on the recommendation of County Clerk Amy Kaiser and effective immediately. The court selected Cadence Bank to finance a new Social Services vehicle and authorized sale of surplus equipment (water truck, bat wing shredder, and case loader) via Rene Bates Auctioneers Inc. with no minimum bid. A $10,000 donation for CR 4821 in Precinct 4 and an in-kind donation of 87 loads of clay (valued at $3,654) were accepted.
