County public works staff told supervisors that recent heavy rainfall has produced edge-ride and drainage problems on non-reclaimed roads, creating extra work and short-term safety concerns. The official said crews are experimenting with intermediate notches and other temporary fixes so water can shed off the driving surface while larger reclaim projects wait for drier conditions.
"Because I do know we're...we're probably at 60 if I had to pick a number, probably 65% done throughout the county," the public works official said, describing progress on the multi-year reclaim program. Staff said weather will pause some reclaim work in the near term but that they will prioritize roads originally scheduled for year one if conditions and resources allow.
