The Macon County Commission awarded a resurfacing contract to East Alabama Paving after receiving competitive bids.
On April 2, 2018 the commission opened bids for resurfacing projects on CR 24 (from CR 48 to the Lee County line), CR 33 (from CR 24 to the Lee County line), and CR 24 (from CR 26 to U.S. Hwy. 80). Bids received were Mid-South Paving $287,238.60, East Alabama Paving $222,015.00, and Wire Grass Construction $303,399.47. Commissioner Robert Berry moved to award the work to East Alabama Paving as the lowest responsible bidder; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
The board authorized the chairman and finance director to execute necessary contracts and directed the county engineer to oversee work and contract compliance. The decision follows standard procurement practice: the commission accepted the engineer’s recommendation and recorded the contract award in the April 2 continuation meeting minutes.
