County commissioners briefed on ambulance‑district formation; organizational meeting set for April 7

Speaker S7 explained the legislative change and the need for local organizing: “They have to form an organizational meeting that is coming up on Monday, April 7 at 05:30PM in Mayville,” S7 said and added that the new district board will manage levy funds and reporting responsibilities if the county levies money for ambulance service. Commissioners discussed likely board size (options between seven and ten members were mentioned), the need to avoid conflicts of interest for ambulance employees serving on the district board, and the importance of ensuring Steele County residents are adequately represented on the district board because the proposed district spans two counties.
S7 and Commissioner Kyle (speaker not named) said they plan to attend the organizational meeting and encouraged township officers and residents in the northern part of the county to participate.
