The Kootenai District board voted to adopt a supplemental levy resolution for 2026–27 that maintains the current levy amount and allocates a total of $1,373,000 across multiple priorities.
During the discussion Trustee Bergquist summarized the line‑item breakdown: “It breaks down athletics at a $146,848. Security school resource officer at a $125,000. Building maintenance at $100,000. Career technical education classes, 96,152. Special education department... $180,000. Salaries and benefits for certified and classified staff, $725,000. Total of $1,373,000,” and said the levy would begin on 07/01/2025 and end on 06/30/2027. The trustee also said the estimated annual cost to taxpayers would be $80.87 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value per year based on current conditions.
Board members noted the resolution keeps the levy “exactly the same as what it has been” while trying to manage rising expenses. The resolution covers both Benoit and Kootenai counties and was prepared by Holly and Troxell, according to the trustee’s remarks. The board called for ayes and the motion passed.
