Trustees discussed line items for electrical, HVAC, fire and safety, roofing, plumbing, site work and technology at Kootenai High School, Kootenai Middle School and Harrison Elementary.
Trustees debated realism of earlier estimates and current assumptions. The superintendent said the plan replaces a prior $3,000,000 estimate the district could not fund and emphasized the plan is "a living document" that should be revised yearly. After discussion the chair called the motion; the board voted to approve the plan.
Board members said the plan is intended to help the district monitor expenditures and adjust priorities if unexpected facility failures occur. The superintendent noted some items—like a possible future fire sprinkler installation—are scheduled years ahead as placeholders and would be revisited as costs and conditions change.
