The Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted to set a public hearing on Aug. 19 at 9 a.m. after a zoning official said the county zoning commission had approved a rezoning request for a property at 38209 Highway 52.
"The zoning commissioner reviewed and unanimously approved a rezoning request from Mark Heights for the property at 38209 Highway 52 to rezone from a 1 a to R 1 Residential," the zoning commissioner said during the meeting. The board moved and, after a second, the chair announced the hearing date and the board voted "aye." The chair stated, "Motion carries."
The public hearing will give residents and interested parties an opportunity to comment on the change from the county's agricultural classification (A-1) to single-family residential (R-1). No additional documentation or staff reports were read into the record at the meeting; the zoning commissioner asked the board to set the hearing date and cited the commission's unanimous recommendation.
Next steps: the board will hold the public hearing on Aug. 19 at 9:00 a.m.; any formal vote on the rezoning would occur after the public hearing and any required notice and record additions are completed.
