Sept. 27 work session: commission adopts resolution for state-retiree lump sum, authorizes ADECA grant application and restricts departmental budget changes

On Sept. 27 the commission adopted Resolution #092718 to provide a one-time lump-sum payment to state retirees, authorized the chairman to apply for an ADECA grant for courthouse/annex lighting improvements (application due 10/19/2018), and adopted a rule that no department may alter budget line items without commission approval for the 2018–2019 budget year.
At the Sept. 27 budget hearing continuation the Macon County Commission took several formal actions. Commissioner Robert M. Berry moved to adopt Resolution #092718 to provide state retirees a one-time lump-sum pay; Commissioner Andrew D. Thompson Jr. seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.
Commissioner Berry also moved to authorize the chairman to apply for an ADECA grant to improve lighting in the courthouse and annex with applications due by Oct. 19, 2018; Commissioner Thompson seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The commission authorized payment of bills for the 2019 fiscal year close-out and adopted the 2018–2019 budget with a directive that no department may change budget line items without commission approval. These motions were recorded as unanimous.
