City staff introduced Lauren Anderson as the new ice arena manager and described her background in Southeast Alaska, where she worked at the Juneau ice arena for many years. Staff praised her transition into the Birmingham role and answered informal questions about her experience.
Separately, staff announced the Community House board selected Birmingham Public Schools to operate an early-childhood center at the facility. The board also formed five committees—finance & audit, development & communications, facilities, programming, and events—and invited public volunteers to serve. Staff provided an email contact for those interested in joining the committees and said more details will appear on an upcoming website.
