The Trenton City Council on July 23 approved a resolution establishing a citizen committee to review the city's planning and zoning ordinances.
City attorney/agenda reader (Speaker 17) described the item on the agenda and the resolution's staffing plan; the planning and zoning administrator will serve as the committee's secretary to record notes and post required public notices. A council member asked whether city staff such as the planning and zoning administrator and other departmental staff would attend meetings as informational, and the meeting record shows staff attendance was envisioned as "present as needed." "I do wanna note that under section 2, the planning and zoning administrator would be the secretary of the committee and take note and post public meeting notices," the agenda reader said.
The motion to approve the resolution was moved and seconded and passed on roll call. Council discussion indicated the committee will be used to modernize older ordinances and that staff will participate as informational resources.
