Ron Teig met with the Meagher County Board to discuss wages and health-insurance eligibility for the Rural County Fire Chief role. Treasurer Dayna Ogle told commissioners that county employees must work at least 20 hours per week to qualify for county health insurance; commissioners suggested hiring Teig as an independent contractor so his compensation would cover his own insurance costs.
Vice-Chairman Errol Galt moved that Teig be paid as an independent contractor at $2,000 per month; Chairman Ben Hurwitz seconded the motion. The board took a vote and the resolution passed, approving the independent-contractor arrangement and directing Teig to submit monthly invoices for payment.
