Commission weighs Trane HVAC replacements, remote BAS support and multi‑year service costs for county jail

He told the commission that the baseline service would cost roughly $21,000 per year and that a two‑year biannual package was quoted at $43,281.
Jason also outlined the BAS (building automation system) option, which would include 24/7 remote access and a bank of 96 on‑site support hours annually: "They would log in ... I can fix it from here or I can't. I'm gonna dispatch a driver," he said. That package is substantially more expensive but, according to staff, could reduce recurring troubleshooting and dispatch delays.
Commissioners stressed negotiation points: the desired warranty and start date, the level of remote access the county will accept, and whether the county should standardize BAS across multiple county facilities to reduce long‑term complexity. The commission directed staff to continue negotiations with Trane, seek a clarified start date and firm costs, and return a recommended contract for formal action at a future meeting.
