Neighbors raise power and drainage concerns as Mills Estates final plat approved

The Butler County Planning Commission voted 6-0 to approve the Mills Estates Final Plat, a proposal by KWH Investments to divide roughly 50 acres into four lots served by a 70-foot internal roadway and a cul-de-sac.
Staff noted rural water service is available, Butler Rural Electric would provide power, and there are no FEMA-mapped floodplain areas on the property. Neighbor Sean Reece told the commission he had spoken to Butler Rural Electric and "has concerns that there will be sufficient electrical power to service the current neighborhood and all of the new dwellings," and he also raised drainage concerns for SW Tawakoni Road where no ditches exist.
Commissioners acknowledged the concerns, discussed road maintenance and drainage, and corrected a clerical error in the plat that had listed eight lots; the plat was corrected to show four lots before the vote. Planning Commissioner Jim Ralston moved to approve PL 26-04; the motion carried 6-0 (Ralston motion, Francis second).
The record notes SW Tawakoni Road is a gravel roadway maintained by Benton Township and that Butler Rural Electric is the likely electricity provider for the new lots.
