The commission revisited a December 2025 recommendation letter about a Kindness Campaign for kūpuna and individuals with disabilities and discussed an Inclusion Champion or Advocate of the Year award. County Executive Rowena Dagdag‑Andaya suggested the award could align with the Abilities Fair and called for clear criteria and a two‑month nomination window. Chair Francine Aarona supported the concept and said the commission could lead the effort while involving the Mayor as appropriate.
Commissioner Crystal Thomas emphasized the need to define inclusion clearly so award criteria are consistent; Commissioner Linda Puppolo volunteered to provide a plaque for the award. Commissioners agreed to follow up and to allow adequate time for nominations and coordination with the Abilities Fair.
