Leesburg chief urges next generation to "take it to the next level"

Looking ahead, Mirra said he hopes new firefighters will "take what we have accomplished so far and just take it to the next level," continuing training and adopting best practices to improve life-saving outcomes. Mirra also noted he was hired by Leesburg in February 2002 and became chief in 2022, which he described as allowing him influence over department-wide practices.
