Technology reshaped firefighting in Leesburg, chief says

Chief Joe Mirra told Inside Leesburg that technology has transformed firefighting operations since his hiring in 2002. "When I first got hired, all of our extrication equipment ' the jaws of life ' they were all gasoline powered. And now we're all transitioning over to battery operated electric," Mirra said, adding that technological gains bring new operational challenges as well as improvements in capability.
