Court backs site-development funds for First District and Duro-Bag redevelopment

The Fiscal Court approved two resolutions supporting use of site development funds by the Northern Kentucky Port Authority for redevelopment projects in Covington. County Administrator Joe Shriver said the county acts as fiscal agent when holding site-readiness funds and that the resolutions direct the Port Authority to use those funds for specified projects.
Resolution 26-03 references redevelopment of the First District at 525 Scott St.; Resolution 26-04 supports redevelopment of the Duro-Bag site and approves an attached Memorandum of Understanding among Kenton County, the City of Covington, the Port Authority and the Catalytic Fund. Shriver said both agreements include provisions to recoup funds if properties are sold. Commissioner Joe Nienaber moved approval and both measures passed on 3-0 voice votes.
