Broderick Bean of the Butler County Health Department explained that the county's WIC dietitian gave notice in September 2025 and Butler County has been unable to hire a replacement; one candidate declined. Reno County Health Department offered temporary coverage: Reno employs three full-time WIC dietitians and agreed to assist with high-risk participant contacts and the annual Nutrition Services Plan. The Board approved the Memorandum of Understanding and authorized the Chair to sign, vote 5-0.
Bean said Butler County will continue recruitment efforts while Reno County provides interim services. The agreement allows Butler County to ensure WIC clients with high-risk nutritional needs continue to receive dietitian contacts and that required Nutrition Services Plan work moves forward without interruption.
