Public Works Asks to Reorder Chemicals; Commissioners Approve Interim Purchase

Brandon Burskin, speaking for Public Works, said the county's recent chemical delivery from the winning bidder was already running short and urged the board to authorize an interim purchase rather than wait three to four weeks for a new sealed-bid process. He said Sims Fertilizer indicated it would sell the listed quantities at the same price as the last bid, and presented a cost example for common products.
"One option is to go out for bid again for chemicals like we did last month. That's a three to four week process, so we're going to be out of several things rather soon," Burskin said. He proposed reordering quantities based on the prior bid specs and prices and, if the board preferred, starting the bid process concurrently.
A commissioner moved to let Public Works reorder from the same company at the same prices; the motion was seconded and approved. Staff will proceed to restock quantities to maintain operations while rebidding if needed.
