Board members discussed the format and information sources for the superintendent evaluation, weighing the pros and cons of internal board discussion, staff surveys and collecting additional evidence.
S2 asked whether the rubric provides sufficient information and suggested the board identify areas where members need more evidence. Some members supported a short staff survey to provide additional input; others expressed discomfort with asking staff to evaluate the superintendent directly. S1 said he values feedback and wants to improve: "I wanna be the best possible superintendent I can be," and said anonymous or nonanonymous instruments have trade-offs for follow-up and addressing issues.
The board agreed to distribute blank copies of the evaluation tool, ask members to mark areas where they need more information, and schedule a collaborative, open-session work meeting (target: June) to review findings and determine whether a staff survey or other information-gathering steps are warranted.
