County to Consolidate 17 Polling Sites to 14 Ahead of Aug. 4 Primary

Amy, the county elections official, told the Board of County Commissioners that Montgomery County will consolidate its polling locations from 17 down to 14 for the Aug. 4 primary, citing operational costs, a shortage of poll workers and recurring problems locating some sites. She listed specific reassignments, including voters previously assigned to Wayside Christian Church now voting at Havana United Methodist Church and those from the USDA Service Center in Independence moving to Crystal Brook Church.
"We are consolidating polling locations, reducing the number of voting sites from 17 to 14 ahead of the August 4th primary election," Amy said. She said the county will mail notice-of-disposition cards to all registered voters containing their assigned voting district, precinct and other registration details, and asked residents to call if they do not receive a card so voter-registration errors can be corrected.
The announcement included operational details: the change is intended to reduce equipment and staffing burdens, speed setup and — officials said — lower future equipment costs. Amy said supervising judges have been contacted and the county will provide information on its website for voters with questions.
